Kathy Dunster is a geographer, a registered professional biologist, and a registered landscape architect in BC. The soul of her professional practice is conservation and includes both natural and historical/cultural landscapes, mostly on the islands in the Salish Sea on the West Coast of Canada. In recent years, she has worked on many projects concerning the history, evolution, and conservation of unique island landscapes. Her most recent work has resulted in the formation of the Slow Islands Movement, and she is currently working on a theory and philosophy of slow landscapes. She serves on the board of the Land Trust Alliance of BC, and she represents LTABC on an advisory body of the Communities in Transition partnership programme created by the Real Estate Foundation of BC.
