What is rammed earth?
Traditional rammed earth construction uses forms that are placed and secured. Damp earth is loaded into them and tamped to compaction. When the forms are removed, the wall is complete. On Salt Spring Island SIREwall Inc. uses the ancient wall building technique of rammed earth as a springboard, adding a core of foam insulation and engineering it to withstand earthquakes. They offer courses as well as design and building services.
