Patricia Johanson
Johanson works with engineers, planners, scientists and citizens to create her art as functioning infrastructure for cities. Her graceful designs for sewers, highways, parks and other functional projects link fragmented ecosystems and create conditions that allow endangered species to thrive. A first book-length treatment of Johanson’s work has been published by the Islands Institute. It covers all of her major projects and reviews some of their implications for art, architecture, landscape design and urban planning.
