Courtney Lee Weida

i am a ceramic artist who creates fragmentary and small works. my project, called "alchemy," utilized recycled glass and plastics that my urban community (friends, coworkers, maintenance staff, etc) helped me to collect over the course of several months. this sculpture is composed of a found box, recycled plastic beverage lids, recycled glass, hot glue, copper flakes, and fragments of porcelain and stoneware sculpture. they are to be arranged by the viewer in nearly infinite configurations. as an educator, i would encourage folks to borrow/try out this idea in their own art and/or students' projects.
